Information Website

The function of the Jury Commission is to randomly select Madison County citizens for jury service for cases coming before the civil and criminal courts of our county.   In addition to those courts, the commission selects citizens for Grand Jury and Coroner's Jury duties.  Citizens are selected from a variety of sources, including but not limited to voter lists, holders of Illinois driver’s licenses, identification cards and disability cards.

The Third Judicial Circuit of Illinois encompasses Madison and Bond Counties. Although the court system in both counties is administered generally by the Chief Judge of the Circuit, the Circuit Court in each county functions separately.

Madison County residents are currently served by 8 Circuit Judges and 12 Associate Circuit Judges.  Bond County is served by the Resident Circuit Judge and an Associate Circuit Judge.

During the course of a year, a wide variety of civil and criminal cases are filed in the Circuit Court of Madison County, some of which are resolved by jury trial.

Trial by Jury is a keystone of our system of justice.  Jury service is therefore both an honor and an obligation of every American citizen.
